About the stone:

Coober Pedy opal comes from the remote town of Coober Pedy in South Australia, known as the "opal capital of the world." The area contains around 70 active opal fields and produces a major share of the world's precious opals.

Crystal lore:

In Indigenous Australian heritage, opals are deeply tied to Dreamtime narratives. The multicolored, shifting fire of the opal is said to be born when the creator ancestor, the Rainbow Serpent, touched the earth, leaving behind a spectrum of colors trapped in stone after a rainbow hit the ground.
