About the stone:

Australian pipe opal is a rare type of natural opal that forms in elongated, tube-like or cylindrical cavities within sandstone or ironstone host rocks. Because light can travel through the tubular and transparent structure of the crystal opal, these stones often display exceptional three-dimensional depth. 

Crystal lore:

In Indigenous Australian heritage, opals are deeply tied to Dreamtime narratives. The multicolored, shifting fire of the opal is said to be born when the creator ancestor, the Rainbow Serpent, touched the earth, leaving behind a spectrum of colors trapped in stone after a rainbow hit the ground.
